Spotify #wrapped 2021 — A viewership sensation!

Spotify! There are millions of tracks and episodes on Spotify. So whether you’re behind the wheel, working out, partying or relaxing, the right music or podcast is always at your fingertips. You can browse through the collections of friends, artists, and celebrities, or create a radio station and just sit back. With Spotify, it’s easy to find the right music or podcast for every moment — on your phone, your computer, your tablet and more.

Spotify #Wrapped

What is usage data? To keep it simple, usage data is an observation of how many times you play a particular song, or what is your most played genre, or who’s your favourite artist! Spotify collects this data over time and categorises this data to provide you with “recommended” & “suggested” playlists according to your interests!

The #Wrapped is a data-driven marketing campaign. The idea was to get listeners to share their Wrapped data on social media, both furthering the discussion and driving new user adoptions! Also, Spotify wanted to be transparent with their user.

#Wrapped was first introduced in 2017 and later added as an annual feature!

Why is #Wrapped Trending in 2021

2020 & 2021 have been major years for Gen-Z! The online culture and virtual experience have become more flexible and casual than ever before and so did the meme pages! Creators! When Spotify released its #Wrapped on Dec 1st it clearly became exclusive content for meme creators and you know the rest!

What if — Netflix #Wrapped like Spotify!

Like how Spotify is for music and podcasts, Netflix is for movies and TV Shows! Ultimately all these service providers collect user data to make the user experience better and customised according to their user’s liking!

So, what if? What if Netflix created a data-driven marketing campaign to get users to share their Wrapped data on social media. This is how it would look…
